This Demonstration shows the pattern of a cellular automaton (CA) mapped on the surface of a cuboid. The 1-dimensional 2-color range-2 {3818817080, 2, 2} CA was chosen. This class-4 CA is special, because the number of black cells in the whole array is fairly proportional to the number of black cells in the initial condition. There are not many CA like this among more than four billion 2C 1D R2 CA. This shows how a 1-dimensional CA can be purposefully applied in 3D. Since only two facades can be seen simultaneously, to save the number of computations, the same pattern appears on both long and both short facades.
