Drill Down into Chemical Data
Requires a Wolfram Notebook System
Interact on desktop, mobile and cloud with the free Wolfram Player or other Wolfram Language products.
Mathematica 8's curated ChemicalData contains close to 44,000 different listings. This Demonstration lets you drill down to any of these chemicals via chemical class designations (Solid, Acid, Chiral, etc.). Once a class is selected, a chemical can be selected. Several views of the molecule can be chosen, as well as Physical, Thermal, Structure, and Shipment data accessed via various flip views. A Tooltip is included to show information such as alternate names and NFPA placards, selected via buttons in the Tooltip cell; followed by mousing over the chemical's molecular formula. Detailed operation guidance via tooltips associated with text throughout the Demonstration can be turned on or off via the checkbox.
