This Demonstration plots iterations of the Kaneko map [1] and checks for chaotic and periodic behavior. The Kaneko map is a two-dimensional iterative map of the form .

By varying the parameters and , regions of chaotic and periodic behavior can be explored, as indicated in the lower figure.
