Relief-Shaded Elevation Map

Mount St. Helens is an active volcano in Washington state, in the northwest region of the United States.
At 8:32 Sunday morning, May 18, 1980, Mount St. Helens erupted. To date, it is the deadliest and the most destructive volcanic event in the history of the U.S.
In this Demonstration, digital elevation data of St. Helens is shown. Shading changes according to the angle of the light source and the elevation multiplier.
